FOOD FIGHT

WHAT IS “FOOD FIGHT”?

Food Fight is a yearly fundraising competition that all Kingdoms of Amtgard participate in with one goal in mind – Filling local food banks!

Food Fight started in 2011, and has continued to be a great tradition in Amtgard. It is held every September, which is historically a slow time for donations to Food Banks.

Every year, in July, the Kingdom Monarch will ask for a volunteer to serve as Kingdom representative. That person, announced by August 1, will solicit volunteers from each land to serve as a land representative. Typically the land representative will select a local food bank that the land level donations will support. The Kingdom may select a different organization for Kingdom donations.

HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED?

Food fight has three categories for donation: Donating non-perishable food, donating money, and donating time.

• Donating Non Perishable Food: You may either donate to the organization your land representative has chosen, or an organization of your choosing. Either way, reach out to ensure that organization is accepting donations and what items are in demand. Your land representative can help provide this information as well. Your land representative will likely accept food donations at the park, and make one large donation. Check with them on when they will be collecting. Or, you can donate to the organization yourself.
• Donating Money: You can donate money to the organization of your choice, or the organization your land has selected. Or, schedule a time with your land representative to do a cash drop off, and they can make the donation for you.
• Donating Time: If you volunteer your time at a food bank, those hours count towards the Food Fight total. Have a representative from the organization record your hours worked and give them to your food fight representative for tracking.

No matter how you choose to donate, make sure to obtain a donation receipt and give it to your local land representative. While this is a competition between the Kingdoms, the true winners are the people served by your donation.

The Kingdom or individual lands may also host auctions, battlegames for pay, or other activities to raise money. These are a fun way to support our neighbors in need. Watch the Facebook page or Discord server for details.

TOYS FOR TOTS

Shrouding Mist historically hosts a tournament with the entry fee being a new, unwrapped toy that is donated to Toys for Tots. Watch their Facebook page or the calendar for updates in November.
